D365 ERP F&O credit card processing

Need a credit card processing solution for D365? What you used in Microsoft Dynamics AX is probably not what you want for Microsoft D365 F&O. That’s because most payment gateways are horribly outdated with current payment processing requirements. Aside from PCI compliance, equally critical is compliance with the card network rules.

Three things you need to ask before selecting a payment gateway for D365:

  • Does the payment gateway support Unscheduled Credential On File?
  • How will you identify expired authorizations and update them?
  • If the initial authorization and final settlement are different, how does the payment gateway manage the authorization so that you can meet requirements for level 3 processing?

D365, ERP, and ecommerce consultants are generally not great resources for the last mile- getting paid, because it’s not their core expertise. If anyone tells you here are two or three options, you choose whichever you want, RUN! Each payment gateway has unique attributes. You need a consultant that not only knows payment processing, but also knows differences between payment gateways and how each will help or hurt your goals.

How can you find a good D365 payment gateway consultant?

While there is not a specific certification that is critical, it helps to have some type of certification vs just experience. The PCI Council offers a few different options, all of which are expensive which is why most people won’t bother getting them. However, because level 4 merchants are required to use only PCI QIR certified individuals, the PCI Council has lowered the cost (as well as the complexity, but that’s another story) to increase the number certified.

Since you’re reading this article, you’re looking for expert help. You’ve found it. I’ve been blogging about payment processing for years. I have used, sold and implemented solutions for authorize.net, PayPal, Payflow Pro, CenPOS, First Data, Chase Paymentech and many, many others. I’ve analyzed merchant statements, ecommerce shopping carts, ERP’s, merchant processors / acquirers, and a host of solutions that interact to impact merchant security, fraud risk, processing fees, and efficiency. Because I’ve seen what happens after the sale, including non-qualified transactions, chargebacks, risky security practices that often go against company policy but employees do it anyway, and more, I’m in a better position than most to give you the best advice for business to business, business to government, large transactions, card not present sales and specialty retail. If I don’t know it, I research everything and ask lots of questions that consultants and merchants don’t know to ask.

The Christine Speedy difference. PCI compliance is important to mitigate data breach risk, but equally important is compliance with complicated card network rules. Have you read any of the 1,000+ pages of Visa Rules? Or 300+ Mastercard transaction processing rules? Have any of the people you rely on? I’ve spent countless hours educating myself on them and learning about the nuances that impact your profit and risk. Technology directly impacts compliance. It doesn’t matter how big or how old a company is; the reality is most players in the payments industry fall behind with every new rule that comes out, even though these rules are usually announced years in advance so that they can prepare. Payment Processing Application for Microsoft Dynamics AX 365 ERP

Microsoft Dynamics AX credit card processing integrated for maximum profit and maximum security with Validated Point to Point Encryption (vP2PE).

PCI Compliance is a moving target. We help reduce compliance burden with a PCI validated Point to Point encrypted solution. It’s important to note that only non-validated P2PE solutions have experienced data breaches in the last 12-18 months.

  • Accept credit, debit, ACH, check with guarantee, cash, wire, Paypal and more payment types.
  • Smart Rate Selector reduces credit card processing fees, including with level 3 processing. Qualifying transactions for the lowest rates is complicated and only with dynamic rules management can merchants automate processes that impact fees.
  • Flexible processor options. You choose. Whether you want to keep your existing First Data, Chase Paymentech, Worldpay, or any other provider, or make a change, we give you options. And if you change acquirers in the future, it’s non-disruptive to operations, unlike “all-in-one” solutions.
  • Need to reduce compliance scope for card not present transactions? Our Encrypted Virtual Keypad segregates your hardware from scope.
  • Compliance with new stored card credential rules is complicated also. We reduce compliance burden with various configurable tools.

Do you have DOPS transactions currently processing credit cards?
You cannot process (authorize, capture, void, refund) any transaction through Dynamics online after Dec 31, even if that transaction occurred prior to Dec 31.  After 12/31/2017:

  • Credit cards linked in AX – Will no longer work for any connector, need to be deleted and re-entered.
  • Authorization – Will be lost.  Either process this through your new solution or work with the payment provider to capture an existing authorization if possible.
  • Capture – Will not be able to process linked refunds.
  • Void – Will not be able to void a payment.
  • Refund – Will not be able to refund a payment.

The above transaction types are very limited. For example, re-authorization, incremental authorization and authorization reversal are common types of transactions in B2B. If not managed correctly, then merchants pay higher fees and risk chargeback by both issuer or customer.

Dynamics AX ERP Credit Card Processing Alternatives 2017

Need a solution to process credit cards for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012? Whether replacing Microsoft Dynamics ERP Payment Services due to end of life announcement, or looking for an alternative to Red Maple Advanced Credit Cards, Christine Speedy has a solution to delight your customers and make your business more profitable virtually overnight. It’s wrong to thing big name gateways are compliant with your B2B payment processing needs. If that were true, our solutions would not exist.

Dynamics AX Credit Card Processing Critical Features Checklist:

  • Customer managed wallet from the very first sale, including before payment is needed. Must eliminate need for paper or digital credit card authorization forms with card data in the clear!
  • No 3rd party applications needed to get paid from invoice; automate journal entry updates. (Eliminate BillTrust and similar.)
  • Communicate the way your customers want, both text and email.
  • Automate rate qualification. A payment gateway with Level 3 processing is not enough; merchants can only qualify for level 3 (corporate, purchasing, business card) interchange rates if all the rules are met. The two most common rules B2B businesses struggle with are “Settlement within 72 hours” for card not present sales, and “Authorization amount and settlement amount must be equal”. CenPOS automates compliance, most gateways cannot.

    interchange rate qualification

The same transaction can process at different rates, depending on which rules you follow.

  • Compliance with Visa Stored Credential Transaction framework and mandates effective October 14, 2017. Merchants need record of customers opt-in to storing and use of the stored card terms and conditions, among other items. For example, a checkbox. There are many nuances including identifying merchant initiated vs customer initiated. CenPOS automates compliance, most gateways cannot.
  • 3-D Secure cardholder authentication- increase approvals, shift fraud liability risk, and for some card types qualify for reduced interchange rates.
  • Virtual Encrypted Keypad – segment your network, software and devices from payment processing for reduced PCI Compliance scope and burden.
  • Accept payments wherever you need in AX- free text, sales orders, payment journals and more.

Improve Efficiencies, Cash Flow, Customer Experience:

  • Invoice delivery via text and email
  • 2-clicks to pay for repeat customers
  • Customer managed wallet for payment methods.
  • Invoice portal – on demand access 24/7 to view and pay invoices
  • Automated collections reminders to pay

AX Solution for all payment types:

  • ACH and check, with and without guarantee.
  • Wire- eliminate inefficiencies matching deposits to invoices and returning unidentified wires.
  • Credit card
  • Paypal and more

Depending on your current AX set up, businesses can be live in less than 2 days.

American Express SafeKey Video and B2B tips

American Express SafeKey® leverages the global industry standard, 3-D Secure®*, to detect and reduce online fraud by adding an extra layer of security when Card Members shop online. Merchant and customer experience answers in this article.

American Express SafeKey

How does Amex SafeKey impact the customer shopping experience? The cardholder may have some or no difference in the checkout experience, based on many factors, including prior online shopping history. The cardholder may be asked authentication question(s) to confirm it’s really the cardholder.

How does Amex SafeKey impact merchants?

  • Fraud liability for “It wasn’t me, I didn’t authorize it” goes away as liability shifts back to the issuer.
  • For business to business, where cardholder billing and shipping address frequently vary, cardholder authentication plays an important role not available with four digit CID security code validation only.
  • At this writing, American Express merchants do not receive a specific interchange discount as may be available with other card brands.

How can merchants adopt the Amex SafeKey service?

  1. Enroll your company on the American Express web site. https://network.americanexpress.com/globalnetwork/safekey/us/en/merchants-acquirers
  2. Receive e-mail from SafeKey Certification Team with your SafeKey ID and next steps.
  3. SafeKey Certification Team gets approval from Acquirer.
  4. Acquirer and SafeKey Certification Team complete required setup.
  5. Activate 3-D Secure on the application. (Ecommerce shopping cart, payment gateway, or ERP.) Both payment gateway and application must support the service.
